GLOBAL WARMING

So, I can't speak for the rest of the world, but living in Toronto in the past few weeks has been a nightmare. I'm talking about the weather, cause it's really taking a toll on my health. It's strange how yesterday it was 7 degrees, nice enough outside to be wearing a light jacket, and this morning I wake to 70mph winds blowing on my window. I nearly had a heart attack, thinking that my roof was going to fly off.

So I get up check the weather and there's a severe wind warning for the GTA. And apparently the weather was warm up until 6am when it just changed over and became -13 degrees w/ windchill. It's confusing as hell because one day i'll be bundled up as much as I can, and the next day i'll be wearing a t-shirt and putting away the winter jackets.

On the way to work, alot of things were blowing over as well, including traffic lights, etc. I can't stand it anymore, i'm moving somewhere hot! All this fluctuating is leaving me sick all the time, and it's hard to get better when your body just doesn't know whether to stay warm or to cool off.

And as if this would be a shock, we're supposed to be getting about 5cm-25cm of snow this friday, depending where you're living. How unfortunate.

GOOGLE EARTH B.C.

In an interesting concept, Glue Society created a series of images shown at the Miami Art Fair recently. The concept was, what if Google Earth was present during biblical times? What kind of images would they have captured? So they came up with satellite images that would have depicted a few events from that time. Awesome work.

WORLD'S SMALLEST BITCH

Female dog that is. I overheard this on the radio while at work, and googled it when I got home. The world's smallest dog, about as small as a coke can. I couldn't really picture how that would look so I was curious. (In another note, it's pretty sad how the internet allows users to be so accessible to almost ANY subject you want). Apparently, so small it can't even bark, and its 3 years old!

ITALIANS LIVE WELL

Proof that Italian's are not only fashionable in personal style, but live in style. Italian designers Elio RavĂ  and Michela De Licio created an "emergency house." Only i'm not quite sure this would be something you could normally afford ...especially in an emergency. The house is made of a waterproof cloth and is filled with resin to take its shape. The resin ensures a stable, sturdy and crash-resistant durable structure while the rubber-boat partitions and semi rigid transparent plastic windows and doors on tight lock hinges make the house look and feel more “real”.

This concept would make your son's traditional treehouse look like shit.

YOU CAN TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS

Remember Russell Oliver? He's been around for ages. Since I was young growing up, he's always been the infamous "Cash Man" that owned Oliver Jewellery on Eglinton West. He forever puts out these comical commercials about buying your used jewellery. I saw his latest efforts on TV the other day and decided it was humorous enough to post.

Enjoy.

AS HIGH AS WU TANG GET

Hip hop legends Wu Tang have teamed up with (in my opinion) New York jewelry legend Gabriel Urist in a collaborative effort to create one of a kind jewelry pieces. Wu Tang in the past have collaborated with the likes of Alife, Nike, and a few other brands, including their own Wu Wear label.

SHOW YOUR LOVE

Not sure what to get your significant other for Valentine's day? Why not carve her 6,000 + steps in a mountain?

In China, a man who fell in love with a woman twice his age half a century ago, carved a 6,000 step stairway up a mountain for his love after they had to elope and live in a cave because their parents and the community were against their relationship. He died recently, but his affection lives on.

PHOTO HUNGRY?

I came across this wacky looking picture on the net, and decided to read into it. Apparently, Motorola offers this special telephoto lens that can attach to your KRZR or RAZR. So if your ever in dying need to take a picture, and all you have is your camera phone, you can take this awkward ass lens out of your (purse?, back pocket?, backpack?, like why the hell would you carry that?) and stick it on and away you go snapping off the perfect shot. Personally, if I owned a KRZR or a RAZR, this would the LAST thing I would purchase. Why not just a digital camera? They do come credit card sized now anyway?

It's only $19 bucks so I suppose if your that cheap...

AIR MAC

Or...rather Macbook Air. Newly announced yesterday, and already creating a buzz, the $1,800 Macbook Air, the newest laptop set to release from Apple. To be honest, reading about the specs, there isn't anything special compared to other laptops already available. Then why the buzz? you may ask. Well, this laptop is actually about 3 pounds, and 0.16 inches thick. Basically, as demonstrated in the presentation, it can fit in a standard full size envelope.

Now would I pay $1,800 for a cheap parlour trick like that? Entertaining, yes. Worth it, Hellll no.

I'VE FALLEN PREY

to the world of Brick Breaker... First Facebook had me addicted, now Brick Breaker on the Blackberry. First I was trying to finish all the levels, never knowing the game goes continuously even though you finish them all. My high score at that point was about 19,000. I thought this was high, but then I took a look at the leader board for Brick Breaker and the highest is like 3,000,000!!!! I'm wondering how long that guy was playing for, cause it takes me like half an hour to get 19,000 points.

Then wandering around the internet wondering if there was any other versions of the game (with more levels), I discovered possibly the most useless blog (since this post), but they also share my "conquest" to the highest score!

WHEN FREESTYLES GO WRONG

I'm sure most of you have seen these individual clips, but regardless, they are entertaining and though I don't promote violence, this just goes to show you, you always gotta keep an eye out.

MARIO GALAXY

So last night a friend of mine let me borrow Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I've been debating for a while now if it would be worth getting, mainly due to the hype and positive feedback. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Keeping in mind the fact that I don't really play much video games, and am not into all of the new systems and such, I was definitely hooked from the jump off. This game gives off a childish feel and that is what keeps my attention. Makes me feel like i'm playing a futuristic style of the first Mario.

The storyline of the game itself is pretty standard, Bowser kidnaps the princess, Mario must rescue her, blah blah blah, but the gameplay is what gets me. There is really no boundaries in this game. You can pretty much walk on every side of a planet, and it gets really trippy (for lack of a better term). Sometimes you find yourself twisting your head sideways for no reason, because Mario appears to be walking sideways on the planet. Human nature I suppose?

Well, with that said, it's definitely a game worth checking out, and since I didn't do a segment in our best of 2007 for video games, this title gets it. Hands down (again another biased opinion since I haven't played any other game in 2007).

New ads from Gap to use famous Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha...

If only they sold as much as they spent on advertising, it might actually be worth it? I like them, but their going bankrupt by the end of the year. And you can quote me on that one.
