So last night a friend of mine let me borrow Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I've been debating for a while now if it would be worth getting, mainly due to the hype and positive feedback. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Keeping in mind the fact that I don't really play much video games, and am not into all of the new systems and such, I was definitely hooked from the jump off. This game gives off a childish feel and that is what keeps my attention. Makes me feel like i'm playing a futuristic style of the first Mario.
The storyline of the game itself is pretty standard, Bowser kidnaps the princess, Mario must rescue her, blah blah blah, but the gameplay is what gets me. There is really no boundaries in this game. You can pretty much walk on every side of a planet, and it gets really trippy (for lack of a better term). Sometimes you find yourself twisting your head sideways for no reason, because Mario appears to be walking sideways on the planet. Human nature I suppose?
Well, with that said, it's definitely a game worth checking out, and since I didn't do a segment in our best of 2007 for video games, this title gets it. Hands down (again another biased opinion since I haven't played any other game in 2007).
